Symposium participants and members of the community are warmly invited to a guided tour of the enhanced rock weathering (ERW) trial site at Howe Farming, Mareeba, Queensland.
Join us for a unique opportunity to visit an enhanced rock weathering field trial on an avocado farm near Mareeba. During the visit, you will meet the farmer, the ERW deployment company, and the scientists leading the trial, and learn first hand about the concept of ERW and practical applications in agriculture and carbon removal.
The event will begin at 10:00am with presentations and demonstrations, followed by a light lunch and refreshments.
While the current trial focuses on avocados, the tour will also explore how ERW insights can be applied to other crops, providing valuable knowledge for a range of agricultural contexts. Learn more about this field trial and the others in the project ‘Rejuvenating agricultural soils to enhance productivity, resilience and carbon sequestration using enhanced rock weathering’.
Come along to discover this innovative approach and its potential benefits for farming in Australia.
You can opt for bus transport from JCU Cairns, Nguma-bada Campus in Smithfield and return. Prebooking required at registration, limited numbers apply. If the bus is full you will need to arrange your own transport.
