We are pleased to report that our team has completed the first harvest since basalt application across four of our seven trial sites.
We recorded fruit weight and size, as well as total yield from two trees within each plot. Samples will be analysed for nutrient content.
Sub-plots were hand-picked to obtain samples. Yield of the whole plots was then measured using a commercial harvester with yield monitor.
The small plots were harvested with a small-plot harvester and the large plots were harvested with a commercial harvester. Grain samples were taken for analysis.
We completed the first crop yield sampling of sorghum, the first grain crop grown at the central Queensland trial site.
Banana bunch production rate are measured monthly, with bunch and banana weights recorded quarterly. Samples from the most recent harvest will be analysed for nutrient content.
